With the County of Lancaster, Lancaster City, and the United Way of Lancaster County’s endorsement, the LCCEH is transforming the homeless system to a housing-first approach of prevention, diversion, and rapid re-housing to provide permanent homes for all residents.

Consisting of more than 150 churches and organizations throughout Lancaster County, LCCEH is coordinated by a staff of 5 employees and was originally organized under the department of Behavioral Health and Development Services.

In recent years, government status has limited the reach of the coalition due to declining government funding. Now organized as a 501-3c non-profit organization under the umbrella of Lancaster General Hospital, the coalition is actively seeking foundation grants and private donations in order to expand their reach and offer more support to the community.

The innovative Housing First initiative that provides permanent homes to homeless individuals and families as quickly as possible, has helped reduce homelessness in Lancaster County and spawned a 10-year initiative to eliminate homelessness in Lancaster County.

LCCEH currently has 108 rental units set aside for individuals and families in need and is actively looking for additional units from landlords and investors.
